Jerry Ethridge

Retired. Formerly senior technical executive manager at Los Alamos National Laboratory

Peace Lutheran Church, Las Cruces, NM

Sense of God's Call: The Synod (people of the RMS) have such gifts to offer one another and those in need. It is the responsibility of synod leadership (Bishop, Synod Office, and the Synod Council) to assess and provide opportunities to utilize those gifts to facilitate and nurture the missions of the synod’s congregations. Affirmed by several spiritual gifts workshops, I believe God has given me the gift of ‘administration’. I want to utilize this gift to help the synod fulfill its awesome responsibilities in a God-pleasing manner and to His glory.

Skills/Experiences: I have significant administration experience with the workings of both congregations and synods. I have served as president for each congregation where I have worshipped and I have served on the synod councils and executive committees for both the Rocky Mountain Synod (2012-2017) with Bishop Gonia and the Northwest Intermountain Synod (2020-2025) with Bishops Kristen Kuempel and Meggan Manlove.

Service Activities: I served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the United Way of Northern New Mexico and the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation. More recently, I served on the Lord of Life (LoL) Lutheran Church's 'Ramp Team' - a group of dedicated members working closely with local service organizations to construct free wheelchair ramps to individuals needing safe access/egress from their homes. I also served as a project leader for LoL's annual 'Mission Possible' event where congregational members travel to a location for a week to assist local service organizations meet the needs of their underserved communities.

Peace Lutheran Church, Las Cruces, NM.

Sense of God's Call: I’ve been blessed to be on the Church synod council and find that in the presence of other church members and leaders on the council, I continue to find many ways to support and care for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Our Synod cares about each member in a large synod region. We support and share our passion with those dealing with issues on the border and throughout. As this is one of my passions, I share in the passion for caring for others.

Skills/Experiences: I find that I have very good interpersonal skills, good listening skills, and I believe my morals and values came through my lifetime as a Lutheran that allows me to continue in a supportive role in church and community.

Service Activities: I help with border servant corp in Las Cruces, I support Peace Lutheran Church as an assistant minister, member of women in motion, and the variety of community areas in Las Cruces that we support. I am also a member of the NM Lutheran Advocacy and Bread for the World.
